Vijoy and Rachna are a photographer couple working out of South San Jose, in the San Francisco Bay Area. They have been photographing landscapes, cityscapes and contemporary man-nature interactions for the past 10+ years, and have exhaustively covered a large number of US and Canadian National Parks, US cities and Regions, Central Europe and some cities of India. They have published photo+story articles in magazines, have displayed their work at various art and photography exhibits, and have clients from the corporate, advertising and art consultation fields.

Vijoy

Vijoy was born and brought up in Calcutta (now Kolkata), India. The city is a throbbing, bustling human sea, probably definining the phrase cosmopolitan metropolis better than any other city in the world. It was the erstwhile capital of the British Raj, and boasts of Victorian architecture intermingled with the depleting abundance of the Babu class. All this was a far cry from the cookie cutter existence of modern West Coast America. A casual glance at his home country of India would impress any traveller, but travelling across the country and keenly observing the people first-hand brought a deep understanding of the myriad cultures that tightly form the nation. This is where the interest in photography was born, and was realized through the use of a now antiquated Agfa manual SLR camera and black and white print film in the late 1970s.

Photography was an expensive hobby, though, and the interest never gained a serious footing till it became more accessible here in the United States. As a doctoral candidate in Computer Networking, photography took a secondary rung, as Markov chains and Stochastic Processes gained precedence over the Zone system. After completing his research, Vijoy finally had a chance to get out an explore, and photograph seriously. He has been photographing seriously for the past 10+ years now.

Rachna

Rachna has been a traveller right from the start. Growing up in a multitude of countries and cultures, ranging from Zambia, Malta, Dominica, the US, and India, has given her an all-encompassing but critical view of the world around us. She has always been interested in the fine arts, and has been an amateur artist for more than 15 years now.

By profession, she is also trained as a computer scientist, and has a graduate degree in Computer Networking. She absorbed photography a little later, but tackled it with the strong background in graphic arts that she possesses. Along with Vijoy, she has been photographing seriously for the past 10+ years. Whereas Vijoy is mostly interested in landscapes and nature photography, Rachna likes to concentrate on contemporary subjects that depict life as we see it.
