Changed the entire look and feel of the site to be javascript based. So now, there is one central location from where the site feel can be changed. Also, jumped on the CSS bandwagon.

  • February 11-13, 2006
A long overdue trip to Lake Tahoe, Virginia City and nearby areas. It was sunny, freezing cold with heaps on snow on the mountains.

  • October 16-19, 2005
Rachna had to present a paper at a conference in San Diego, so Anika and I werefree to roam about the town. Couldn't see much because of the conference schedules, but managed to sneak in all the highlights.
  • September 3-5, 2005
As a last minute decision, we decided to go to Kings Canyon, even though this was probably the worst time to visit the Park. As a bonus, we decided to drive through some of the backroads of the Central California Valley.
  • July 2-5, 2005
First foray into the magical land of the Eastern Sierras. We had seen parts of this area near Death Valley and Lone Pine, but this time we perched ourselves at Mammoth Lakes and drove into Bodie, Ancient Bristlecone Pine forest and the nearby lakes and rivers.
  • June 7-11, 2005
SuperComm at Chicago. We were perched right at the Navy Pier, a few blocks from everything. Had a blast. First trip with the kid - not too bad. The weather reminded me of Calcutta, though.
  • March, 2005
I have been recently discovering my immediate neighborhood of South San Jose and Morgan Hill. The Santa Teresa Hills, Almaden Valley and the numerous reservoirs provide spectacular photography opportunities, and are only 15 minutes away. What have I been doing for the past 5 years?

  • October 16-17, 2004
A repeat Yosemite Fall colors trip, but given my current lucky streak, there were heavy rains and Tioga Pass was closed, because someone sneezed. A very disappointing Valley tour.
  • August 19-24, 2004
A long awaited trip to the Canadian Rockies - Banff and Jasper National Parks. As with almost ALL of my long distance trips, heavy rain was forecast for all 5 days of the trip, with the sun peeking out for a couple of hours on the 21st.
  • May 29-31, 2004
Repeat trip to the Redwood National and State parks. This time, we ventured further north, towards Jedediah Smith and drove all the way to Gold's Beach in Oregon. Since I wanted foggy weather to Velvia-fy the lush green redwood forests, I got blazing sun in the forecast.
  • April 28-May15, 2004
Trip to India (Calcutta and Bhopal). Lugged my (now aging) Olympus digital camera and pointed it at some facets of Indian life. In hindsight, I wish I had lugged the Canon EOS 7e instead.

  • September 2-13, 2003
A trip through the chocolate and cheese fantasyland of Germany, Switzerland and Austria. It was bright and sunny for the first third of the trip, and gloomy and rainy for the rest of the trip. Nevertheless, a lot of fun.
  • May 24-26, 2003
Revisiting the Lava Beds, Shasta, Lassen, Klamath corner of Northern California. Lava Beds were very impressive, as usual, but very difficult to capture on film. Lassen was closed most of the way due to heavy snow (17 inches) in April. The Shasta region was lush green when cloudy, but sadly, I couldn't take any photographs due to time constraints.
  • March 29-31, 2003

Trip to Kings Canyon National Park, Las Vegas, Zion Canyon National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Las Vegas and back. Unfortunately or fortunately, we took the trip during the week that 3 waves of intense Pacific storms wreaked havoc all across the West, including dumping feet of snow to the western Utah parks. Photos from this trip can be found here.
